In this blog, we explore the most authentic Nashville institutions for those looking for a truly local taste of Music City.

Bolton’s Spicy Chicken & Fish

Legend has it that Nashville hot chicken was first invented by an angry wife who discovered her husband had been having an affair. She cooked him fried chicken but made it spicy in hopes of him burning his mouth- however, the result was pure alchemy. Since then, this local delicacy has swept the nation and become Nashville’s most popular culinary export. For the most authentic hot chicken experience, we recommend venturing to the trendy East Nashville neighborhood to sample Bolton’s Spicy Chicken. Be careful though- start at mild spice because the spice levels at Bolton’s are over the top!

Monell’s

For a true southern experience, dining at a community table at Monell’s should be at the top of your list. The incredible southern flavors that the chefs prepare in this kitchen will leave you satisfied for days. Delicacies include skillet fried chicken which is served at every meal as well as other southern classics like chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, and incredible southern sides that will have your mouth watering. Located in the historic Germantown neighborhood, you will be able to walk off the calories after your meal on these trendy sidewalks while you window shop.

Puckett’s

If you are new to visiting the south, a southern “Meat & 3” is a restaurant that serves 1 meat and 3 sides and they can be known to have some of the most delicious authentic offerings in the region. Puckett’s has been a Nashville institution for nearly 30 years and offers not only slow roasted BBQ but great live music as well. For a local experience that includes food and music, don’t miss Puckett’s in downtown Nashville.

Husk

For a fine dining experience with a southern flair, be sure to make a reservation in advance for a visit to Husk. This nationally renowned restaurant is just a few blocks from Broadway and explores cuisine that redefines what it means to cook and eat in the South. The restaurant has been featured in The New York Times and other national publications cementing its status as one of Nashville’s most popular fine dining restaurants.  Executive Chef Ben Norton is famous for his ingredient-driven cuisine which includes practices of in-house seed-saving and in-house pickling. If you are celebrating a special occasion during your visit to Nashville, Husk’s incredible menu will live up to the hype of the evening.

We hope you take the time to visit some of our favorite Nashville eateries during your visit to our fantastic city.
